Maine and The Late Indian War

This presentation features interviews collected for a longer project titled The Late Indian War, which received script development funding from the Maine Humanities Council. The longer film, still in production, will offer a more balanced perspective of Native and Colonial relations in the 17th century and how the fragmentation of these relations ultimately led to a war once known by early historians as The Late Indian War but better known as King Philipıs War.

This showing will present segments of collected interviews relevant to Maine with Native and non-Native historians. The historians discuss the significance of this region as the place of first concentrated contact with Europeans and how this shaped further colonization efforts in all of New England.
